It’s with great enthusiasm that I report I’ve made contact with two men who have run similar fundraising activities in years past: Marco Gorin of New Dehli and Steve Skilbeck of Bangkok. Since 2009 they have conducted Himalayan treks to raise awareness and funds for the orphanage, and have done so with great success.
Happily, they confirmed that the orphanage was indeed still in operation and the founder, Ms. Suthasinee Noi-in, though ill, was still alive despite her struggle with cancer and very much involved in the daily work of raising the kids.
Although they had not yet conducted a trek in 2011, they have decided to plan another for 2012 emboldened by my interest in serving the children of the orphanage. In fact, we all believe that there is a greater community out there that would be willing to assist if only they knew more about the good work being done at this orphanage.
And so, having crossed paths, we have now decided to officially join forces. Covering three countries, our partnership marks a first, and important, step toward creating a worldwide community of support. I could not be more excited!
